A bicep injury can take you by surprize when you work your bicep too much, strain it too hard or another way to make a bicep injury is when you`re using poor form.

There are two types of bicep injury:

  • a tear of the bicep tendon around the shoulder area
  • a tear of the bicep muscle around the elbow
  • A tear of the bicep tendon around the shoulder area-this type of bicep injury is common in older men and is caused by arthritic changes.

    A tear of the bicep muscle around the elbow-this bicep injury is the one you’re more likely to see in gyms and it`s developed when men attempt to lift heavy weights with a muscle that is not correctly warmed up. When it occurs or if it occurs, the pain is instant and sometimes you can hear a pop of the bicep muscle, followed by a bruising.

    If you`re unlucky and get this type of bicep muscle injury stop immediately and seek professional advice!

    Risk of bicep injury
    Men under their 30`s have a small chance of bicep injury, but those over 35 (years) have a great risk of getting a bicep injury.They must start their bicep training with a very light weight, don’t just go straight into a heavy weight routine.

    How to prevent a bicep injury
    If you want to prevent a bicep injury just warm them properly before starting your workout. Do some empty bar bicep curls 20-40 are enough, and don`t jump into a heavy training routine if you don`t have at least 6 months of training.

    Bicep injury rehabilitation
    After a bicep injury, you have to take it very slowly at the gym. The most important thing that you need to know:

  • Use light weights no matter what
  • for at least 3 weeks use just dumbbells in your bicep workout
