After watching Immortals i’ve told myself to write a little bit about Henry Cavill’s workout and diet that made him look like the great mythological Theseus, a mortal warrior that was chosen by Zeus to lead a fight against Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) who wanted to release the titans for another battle against the gods.
Yeah that’s interesting enough but if you’ve seen the statues from ancient Rome or Greece that withstood at the passing of time you probably know the fact that those statues have an athletic body with ripped pure muscles so .. Theseus or Henry Cavill had to work his ass off to look the same and be imposing as a fearless leader for the movie Immortals where every guy had brawn.
Henry Cavill’s warrior workout for the role of Theseus in Immortals
Of course his six packs made him a good choice for the role in Immortals but you can only get six pack abs like Henry Cavill if you work out with passion and of course the money that he gets for training is quite a boost. Henry’s fearsome workout routine besides his diet plan lasted for about 6 months and it was very intense with a combination of:
- cardiovascular exercises (circuit training)
- body weight training
- free weights training
- powerlifting exercises
- martial arts training
Henry Cavill’s workout for Immortals had a main goal: “REDUCE FAT FAST BUT ALSO GAIN PURE MUSCLE MASS”
In the beginning he had full days devoted to training and learning sword combat, and on lunch breaks he had to eat and sleep. As for the exercises, Henry Cavill would do:
- Pull ups for his awesome warrior back
- Dumbbell rows
- Push ups for triceps muscles
- Deadlifts for core strength
- Box jumps
- Floor wipes with the barbell as the crew from 300 did
- Burpee (more of a cardio exercise)
- Bench press for huge chest
- Cable chest press
- Shoulder press
- Tricep dips for the warrior look
- Squats for bulking legs
- Leg extensions for a shredded look
- Calf raises
- Also kettlebell swings can improve your overall condition (added bonus)
Henry Cavill’s diet plan to get that ripped Theseus look for Immortals
Having a great workout is not enough if you want to get those ripped muscles like Henry Cavill did. First of all you should start by eating more proteins and in time get some carbs too because you’ll shred a lot more fat if you’re eating protein at the beginning of your training regimen.
Why is that? Well your body needs more energy to digest proteins than with carbs!
Henry Cavill’s diet had the typical plan for a Hollywood actor and it consisted of many small protein meals throughout the day because it’s better to keep a constant flow of nutrients to fuel the body in order to gain lean muscle mass without steroids.
Some of the food Henry Cavill ate to get that muscle physique:
- Chicken breast
- Lots of eggs like pro bodybuilders
- Fruits and vegetables for minerals and vitamins that ensure a healthy energy intake
- And of course protein shakes
Henry Cavill’s training for gaining muscles resembles to the 300 workout and if you’re interested, you can read about Gerard Butler’s workout from 300 too.
