I’m here today with some really bad news about our several times Mr. Olympia winner, Ronnie Coleman! Even though he stopped competing in bodybuilding contests a long time ago, Ronnie still went on with his bodybuilding training and hardcore workouts in order to maintain and even develop his already imposing muscle mass.
The thing is that, with the passing of the time, your body grows old and you can’t lift like you were used to when you were young and also on juice.
This same principle applies to Ronnie Coleman too and that’s why, when he posted on Instagram a photo with him, Ronnie Coleman at his last gym day before a hip replacement surgery that would be performed today on the 31 July 2014, I knew that this would be the end of Ronnie Coleman’s gym days… it’s sad but true!
Ronnie Coleman on Instagram:
Getting in my last workout before my surgery tomorrow. Never take life granted, Never. Training is my life, my hobby, it’s who I am, it represents me. If this was my last workout and I’m never ever able to train again because God called me home, I can say my life was fulfilled because I did it doing what I always love doing the most, Training.
Dude, on 30 July 2014 was Ronnie Coleman’s last workout for God’s sake and this is him being immortalised in the gym for the last time!
I’m not pointing fingers and things like that but look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, he’s much more older than Ronnie Coleman and still goes to the gym regulary and he looks good!
This is what “light weight baby” does to you! Arnold trained hardcore too but not at today’s level of steroid intensity, everything was pretty balanced back in the golden era of bodybuilding while today, you just have to force the body to grow in strength and muscle density with a box of pills and a couple of testosterone shots per day, that’s if you want to keep up with nowadays Mr. Olympia requirements!
Was it worth it? Imagine the continuous strain on Ronnie Coleman’s body, the hundreds of pounds which he lifted day after day.. Bones and joints tend to regenerate but not at that pace; Ronnie Coleman just went on lifting heavy weights until there was no cartilage left in his hips.
Anyway.. it seems that Ronnie Coleman’s hip replacement sugery went fine but he’s not that good because it ended his life long passion and hobby, BODYBUILDING!
